Recording Narration
Real-Time Voiceover: Record While Watching Playback
Bitcut lets you record voiceover narration directly inside the app. Your video plays back while you speak, so you can time your words to match the visuals. The recording is added as a separate audio layer, which means it won't replace your original clip audio or music track.
How to Record
Open the narration panel
In the editor, tap the microphone button to open the narration recording panel. Position the playhead where you want the narration to start.
Start recording
Tap the record button. After a short countdown, video playback begins and your microphone captures audio. Speak naturally while watching the preview — your words will be synced to the exact timeline position.
Stop and review
Tap stop when you're finished. Play back the timeline to hear your narration over the video. If you're not happy, delete it and record again.
Adjust levels
Balance the narration volume against clip audio and music. Use the volume controls to make sure your voice sits well in the mix.
Audio Layers
Narration lives on its own audio layer, separate from clip audio and the music track. This gives you independent volume control for each:
- Clip audio — the original sound from your video clips
- Music track — background music added to the project
- Narration — your recorded voiceover
When narration is present, Bitcut can automatically duck the music volume so your voice is clearly heard.
Recording Tips
- Record in a quiet room to minimize background noise
- Hold your device steady and speak at a consistent distance from the microphone
- Keep sentences short — viewers scroll fast, and concise narration keeps attention
- If you make a mistake, stop and re-record just that section
