FAQ

What is a safe zone?
The inner 90% of the visible crop area — stay inside it to keep text, logos and faces away from edges that platforms may cover with UI elements.
How much of my 16:9 video will be visible in 9:16?
A centred 9:16 crop of a 16:9 source uses about 56% of the original width, showing 100% of the height. The left and right edges are cropped out.
Can I change the crop position (not centred)?
This tool shows a centred crop. To shift the crop position in your actual video (e.g. to keep a face on one side), use the Bitcut app which has AI face-tracking reframe.
What ratio should I use for TikTok, Reels and Shorts?
9:16 (vertical) is the standard for all three platforms. Square 1:1 also works well for Instagram feed posts.
