Add AI Subtitles to Timeline Clips Without Re-Trimming

Clips Enhancement adds subtitles to clips that are already on your timeline. Unlike Smart Add (which processes clips during import), Enhancement works on your existing edit — it doesn't change trim points or clip order, it only adds subtitles.

When to Use

Use Clips Enhancement when:

  • You've already arranged clips on the timeline and are happy with the edit
  • You added clips without AI processing and now want subtitles
  • You want to add subtitles to specific clips, not all of them

How to Enhance

1

Tap the AI button

In the editor toolbar, tap the AI button and select Enhance Clips.

2

Bitcut scans for speech

Each clip is analyzed on-device to detect whether it contains speech. Only clips with detected speech (and longer than 10 seconds) are sent for transcription — this saves your AI quota.

3

Server transcription

Audio from speech clips is sent to the server for AI transcription. Errors are corrected automatically and timestamps are aligned to each word. Processing happens for up to 3 clips concurrently.

4

Subtitles appear

Word-level subtitles are added to each enhanced clip. Play the timeline to see them in action. You can customize the subtitle style, animation, and position in Subtitle Settings.

Enhancement vs. Smart Add vs. Generate Shorts

Feature Enhancement Smart Add Generate Shorts
Changes trim points
Adds subtitles
Creates new projects
Works on existing timeline During import
Pro tip: Enhancement only processes clips that don't already have subtitles. If you re-run Enhancement after editing, it will skip clips that were already enhanced.
