Smart Add with AI: Auto-Trim Speech and Detect B-Roll

Smart Add with AI is the best way to add new clips to an existing project. When you select videos, Bitcut analyzes each clip for speech content and processes them intelligently:

  • Clips with speech — sent to AI for transcription, text correction, and intelligent trimming. The AI finds the strongest segment and adds word-level subtitles.
  • Clips without speech — processed by Smart Trimmer, which automatically finds the most visually interesting 5-second segment.

How to Use

Tap + to add clips

In an existing project, tap the + button to open the media picker and select your videos.

Choose "Smart Add with AI"

After selecting videos, a dialog appears. Choose Smart Add with AI. The other option, "Add to Timeline," adds clips without AI processing.

Watch the processing

Clips are added to the timeline immediately with processing indicators. You'll see icons change as each clip goes through analysis stages: speech detection, transcription, and trimming. You can continue editing other clips while processing happens.

Review results

When processing completes, clips are trimmed to their best segments with subtitles. Speech clips also get automatic voice enhancement and music ducking (if a music track is present).

Processing Indicators

While AI processes your clips, overlay icons show the current stage:

  • Magnifying glass — analyzing (detecting speech)
  • Waveform — transcribing audio to text
  • Scissors — trimming to the best segment
  • Checkmark — complete
  • Warning triangle — failed (tap to see error details)

Beat Sync Integration

If your project has a music track with beat detection enabled, Smart Add automatically snaps the trimmed clip boundaries to the nearest beats. This means AI-processed clips are beat-synced out of the box.

Smart Add vs. Generate Shorts

Use Smart Add when you're building a timeline from multiple clips and want each one individually processed. Use Generate Shorts when you have a single long video and want to extract multiple Shorts from it.
