Multi-Language Subtitles
Translate Subtitles into Multiple Languages with AI
Bitcut can translate your subtitles into multiple languages automatically using AI. Once subtitles are generated for a clip, you can add target languages and get a fully timestamped translation in seconds. Each language becomes a separate locale that you can export or publish independently.
How It Works
After AI transcription generates word-level subtitles for your clip, the translation flow works like this:
- Open subtitle settings for a clip that already has subtitles
- Tap the Language picker
- Select one or more target languages from the list
- AI translates the entire transcript, preserving timing information
Timestamps are distributed proportionally to match the translated text length. If a translated phrase is longer than the original, each word gets a proportionally adjusted time window so the subtitles still sync naturally with the audio.
Source Language Detection
The source language is detected automatically during transcription. You don't need to specify it manually.
If the source language is not English, Bitcut handles it automatically:
- The original transcript is moved into a locale for the source language
- The primary subtitle track is translated to English
- Any additional target languages you select are translated from the original source
This means English subtitles are always available as the default, regardless of the language spoken in the video.
Exporting by Language
Each language locale can be exported independently. When you export a video, you choose which language track to burn into the subtitles. This lets you create multiple versions of the same Short — one per language — from a single project.
Cloud Publishing with Multiple Languages
When you publish a project to the cloud, each language locale can be uploaded separately. Viewers on the portal see the subtitle track that matches their language, making your content accessible to a wider audience without any extra editing work.
Use Cases
- International reach — publish the same Short in 3-5 languages to multiply your potential audience
- Multilingual teams — share content with colleagues who speak different languages
- Content repurposing — turn a single interview or tutorial into localized versions for different markets
