Reordering Clips
Rearrange Clip Order: Control Your Story Flow
Clips play from left to right on the timeline. Changing their order changes the story. You might want to lead with your strongest hook, move a reaction shot earlier, or rearrange scenes after reviewing a rough cut. Reordering in Bitcut is a quick drag-and-drop operation.
How to Reorder
Long-press the clip
Press and hold the clip you want to move. After a brief moment, the clip visually lifts from the timeline, indicating it's ready to be dragged.
Drag to the new position
While holding, drag the clip left or right. The other clips shift apart to show where the clip will land when you release.
Release to drop
Let go and the clip snaps into its new position. The timeline updates immediately and you can play back the new order right away.
What Moves with the Clip
When you drag a clip, everything attached to it moves along:
- Trim points — the clip keeps its current start and end positions
- Subtitles — all word-level subtitle data stays with the clip
- Audio settings — volume, voice enhancement, and music ducking
- Speed adjustments — any speed changes you've applied
Reordering with Music
If your project has a music track with beat detection, reordering clips adjusts how they align with beats. After rearranging, play through to check that transitions still land on musical downbeats. You may want to fine-tune trim points afterward to re-align with the rhythm.
