Title Cards & Intro Overlays
Insert Animated Title Cards, Intros, and Chapter Headings
Title cards are text screens you insert into your video -- intro slides, chapter headings, topic labels, or end cards. Bitcut includes six animation presets, each with a distinct layout and motion style. Every aspect of a title card is customizable: font, size, color, animation, background, and stroke.
How to Add a Title Card
Open the toolbar
Tap the Title Card button in the editor toolbar. The title card panel opens with preset options and a text field.
Choose a preset
Browse the six built-in presets (described below). Each preview shows its animation and layout so you can pick the right style before committing.
Edit your text
Type the text you want to display. Keep it short -- two to four words is the sweet spot for readability.
Customize appearance
Adjust font, size, color, background, stroke, and animation settings to match your video's style. Changes preview in real time.
Add to timeline
Tap Add to insert the title card. It appears on the timeline at the current playhead position. You can drag it to reorder or select it later to edit.
Six Built-in Presets
Each preset has its own layout, animation style, and visual character. Pick the one that matches the tone of your content.
| Preset | Style | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Minimal | Clean fade in and out. Simple centered text with no extra decoration. | Professional videos, tutorials, business content |
| Bold | Large text that scales up quickly with a punchy ease-out. High visual impact. | Shorts, reels, high-energy edits |
| Cinematic | Slow fade with a gentle upward drift and letterbox bars. Film-style elegance. | Documentary, storytelling, trailers |
| Lower Third | Text slides in from the left into the lower portion of the frame with a background bar. | Speaker names, location labels, news-style captions |
| Neon | Glowing text that pulses once before settling. Bright, modern, eye-catching. | Music videos, nightlife, gaming content |
| Typewriter | Characters appear one by one as if being typed in real time. Builds anticipation. | Quotes, questions, suspenseful reveals |
Customization Options
- Font -- choose from the available typefaces to match your content's personality.
- Size -- scale the text up for bold, punchy titles or down for subtler labels.
- Color -- set the text color. White on dark backgrounds is a classic choice; use brand colors for consistency across videos.
- Animation -- each preset has a default animation, but you can switch to any other animation style after selecting a preset.
- Background -- add a solid or semi-transparent background behind the text. Useful when the video underneath is busy or bright.
- Stroke -- add an outline around the text for better contrast against complex backgrounds.
Common Use Cases
Video Intros
Place a title card at the very beginning of your project with the video title or hook. The Cinematic or Minimal preset gives a polished opening. Keep duration to 2-3 seconds so viewers get to the content quickly.
Chapter Markers
Insert title cards between sections of a longer video to signal topic changes. This helps viewers follow the structure, especially in tutorials or multi-topic content. The Bold preset creates a clear visual break between chapters.
Topic Labels
Use the Lower Third preset to label what is being discussed or shown without interrupting the video. The text appears in the lower portion of the frame while the footage continues playing.
