AI Quota Usage: How Many Free Minutes Do You Get?

Bitcut's AI features — transcription, segmentation, and text correction — run on remote servers that require processing time. Your plan includes a monthly quota of AI minutes. Once you understand what counts and what doesn't, you can make the most of your allowance.

What Counts Toward Your Quota

AI quota is measured in minutes of audio processed. The key rule is simple:

Quota used = duration of video sent for transcription.

For example:

What doesn't count: On-device speech detection, visual trimming of silent clips, beat detection, face tracking, and exporting all happen locally and use zero quota.

Free Plan

The free plan includes 30 minutes per month of AI processing. This is enough to:

  • Generate Shorts from one 30-minute podcast, or
  • Process about 15-20 short clips with Smart Add, or
  • A mix of both

Your quota resets on the first day of each calendar month.

Checking Your Remaining Quota

You can see your current usage in two places:

  • Before processing — when you start an AI workflow, Bitcut checks your remaining quota and warns you if you don't have enough minutes
  • Profile screen — your subscription status and remaining minutes are shown in the app's profile section
Quota exceeded: If you run out of AI minutes mid-processing, the current operation will complete but new AI requests will be blocked until your quota resets or you upgrade.

Paid subscriptions include significantly more AI minutes — or unlimited processing depending on the tier. Upgrading is available from the profile screen or when you hit a quota limit. See subscription details in the app for current pricing and plan options.

Tips for Saving Quota

  • Let speech detection filter first — silent clips are automatically skipped, saving your minutes
  • Use Smart Add for short clips — it's more efficient than Generate Shorts for clips under 3 minutes
  • Avoid reprocessing — once a clip has subtitles, you can edit them manually instead of regenerating
